Anne Arundel County Police are seeking suspects in the assault and robbery of two people near the Cinemark at Arundel Mills mall.
At about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Mall for a report of a robbery at the Cinemark. When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old, both described as white males, involved in the incident, said Anne Arundel County Police in a news release.
One of the men reported a stolen wallet, and the other said he’d been physically assaulted by three men, the news release said. Authorities said the altercation began from a verbal dispute during a movie, when one of the victims “directed racial epithets at the suspects,” who police said are black males.
The victim who was assaulted was transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Police said the suspects fled the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 410-222-6155. Anonymous callers can call the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
This incident comes nearly a week after a man was fatally shot in a parking lot near the same movie theater. The event was noted as “a targeted event,” meaning there is no threat to the public.
The shooting victim hasn’t been identified, and arrests haven’t been announced.
