The Baltimore Orioles dropped the series finale on Sunday, 4-1 to the Kansas City Royals. Limited to just five hits on the day, it took a Kris Bubic wild pitch in the seventh inning to put a run in the Orioles column.
Ryan Mountcastle (3 for 4, 3B, R) was the Orioles offense on this day. He opened the seventh with a triple, the final hit of the day by the Orioles, and crossed the plate when Bubic spiked a one-out wild pitch. Mountcastle previously singled in both the second and fourth innings.
Adley Rutschman and Jordan Westburg each went 1 for 4 on the day. Ramon Urias (0 for 2, BB) recorded the only Baltimore walk and ultimately the Birds were 0 for 2 with runners in scoring position while leaving 4 runners on base. Twelve of Baltimore’s twenty-seven outs came via the strikeout (one caught looking).
Cade Povich (0-1) made his second start of the season and surrendered a baker’s dozen of hits over 6.0 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs, struck out 4 and threw a wild pitch in taking the loss.
Seranthony Dominguez (1.0 IP, BB, K) and Yennier Cano (1.0 IP, K) did their job, sadly the bats didn’t.
