Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg were left off of the AL roster after voting concluded on Sunday. Westburg received his chance a few days later after replacing an injured Rafael Devers. OF Anthony Santander now gets that same chance, as he’s been named Kyle Tucker’s replacement in the AL outfield.
Anthony Santander finished fourth in outfield voting after Sunday afternoon. The top three outfield spots advanced to start, but it looked promising that Santander would make it as a reserve. Unfortunately, Santander did not find his name with the AL outfield reserves when they were announced on Monday. The man they call “Tony Taters” finally gets his chance after being named an injury replacement for Astros OF Kyle Tucker.
Santander is batting .233 with 23 home runs (t-fifth in MLB), and 57 RBIs in 83 games. The batting average may not be there, but his power numbers may be the best in his career. Santander hit a career-high 33 home runs in 2022, and he’s only ten away from that number. He’s also on pace to eclipse 100 RBIs, breaking his career-high 95 set last season.
Santander now joins Corbin Burnes, Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and Jordan Westburg as Orioles All-Stars.
