Question: Rich, any chance Trey Mancini gets a minor league contract and a chance to make the Orioles as a right-handed bat? From: Bill Connor
Answer: Bill, I don’t see Trey Mancini as a potential fit for the Orioles. He’ll be 33 next spring and hasn’t been an effective hitter since leaving the Orioles in 2022.
They don’t need another right-handed hitting first baseman/designated hitter because Ryan Mountcastle is playing first and Coby Mayo needs a place to play. The Orioles need a right-handed hitting outfielder, and I think they’ll look at other options.
I am a huge Mancini fan. He’s the best person I’ve ever covered with the Orioles, and while he may want to play again, I don’t think it will be in Baltimore.
Question: Do you think with new ownership they may bring FanFest back prior to the season starting? From: Bryan Kraft
Answer: Bryan, I always liked FanFest because it was a great way of interviewing many players, coaches and executives in one day in a convenient location.
However, in recent years, the Orioles have been using the caravan to connect with their fans, and I wouldn’t expect FanFest to return. I have heard from many fans who’d like to see a return to FanFest, but I think you’ll have to be satisfied with the caravan.
Most weekdays, I’ll be answering at least one Orioles question. If you’d like to submit a question, send it to: Rich@BaltimoreBaseball.com. Questions may be edited for clarity, length and style.
