In his first start since he signed with the Orioles on March 21st, Kyle Gibson allowed one run on three hits in 3 1/3 innings for Triple-A Norfolk in their 6-1 loss to Gwinnett.
The 37-year-old right-hander threw 47 pitches, 33 strikes. He struck out four without walking a batter.
Assuming Gibson is on a five-day schedule, his next start could come on April 15th at Omaha.
Spencer Strider, who was 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA for Atlanta last season, struck out 13 Tides and walked two in 5 1/3 innings. He allowed one run on three hits.
Rightfielder Dylan Beavers had an RBI single for Norfolk.
Centerfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr. left Chesapeake’s 3-2 win over Erie with left hamstring discomfort. Bradfield had a triple in two at-bats. He’s hitting .389 with a 1.032 OPS.
Norfolk catcher Samuel Basallo is on the Triple-A injured list with a hamstring injury.
Rightfielder Tavian Josenberger hit a three-run home run.
Starter Alex Pham struck out nine in 5 1/3 innings. He allowed a run on three hits with a walk.
