If you can’t be in attendance at Camden Yards for the Orioles’ playoff opener, tune into ESPN2 and the familiar voice of Ben McDonald.
The 2024 MLB postseason begins today, and the Orioles hope their experience will last quite a bit longer than last year’s three-and-out ALCS sweep at the hands of the Rangers. This afternoon the O’s host the Kansas City Royals for Game 1 of the best-of-three AL Wild Card Series.
An enthusiastic crowd will be on hand at Camden Yards for the Orioles’ playoff opener, but if you’re not lucky enough to be among them, tune in to ESPN2 for complete coverage.
Game 1: Kansas City Royals at Baltimore Orioles, 4:08 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Announcers: Sean McDonough, Jessica Mendoza, Ben McDonald, Jeff Passan
The Orioles won’t have any more local broadcasts on MASN this year, but that doesn’t mean we’ve heard the last of our favorite 6-foot-7, Louisianan color commentator. Ben McDonald will serve as part of the four-man announcing team for the series, offering the national booth the wisdom of someone who is intimately familiar with the Orioles. O’s fans can be glad that Ben will be on hand to drop some knowledge about the Birds while pitching in with his classic homespun sayings like, “Cedric Mullins covers more ground than kudzu.”
Veteran play-by-play voice Sean McDonough, former Sunday Night Baseball analyst Jessica Mendoza, and ESPN’s baseball insider Jeff Passan will round out the crew. It’s a strong group. Let’s hope the Orioles give them a quality game to discuss.
