Baseball fans around the country have become familiar with all the top prospects in Baltimore’s system. Top prospects Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson have been in the majors for some time now, but they’re not the only ones. Last year we saw Jordan Westburg and Colton Cowser make their long-anticipated debuts as well.
It looks like another top prospect will make his debut this week, as Connor Norby looks to join the team in Toronto. The news was first announced by Orioles beat writer Jake Rill on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Orioles selected Connor Norby with the 41st pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. The team sent him to the Florida Complex League where he hit .182/.208/.481 in seven games. Norby then moved up to the Delmarva Shorebirds where he excelled. He hit .283 with three home runs and 17 RBIs in 26 games.
Norby took off in 2022 where he climbed from high-A to AAA in one season. He hit .279 with 29 homers and 73 RBIs in 121 games. He spent all of 2023 with AAA Norfolk and helped propel the team to the AAA championship against Durham. Norby hit .290 with 21 homers and 92 RBIs last season for the Tides. He’s picked up right where he left off in 2024 batting .286 with nine homers so far.
Connor Norby will be a useful piece in the infield for the O’s coming up. The team lost second basemen Jorge Mateo after Cedric Mullins hit him in the head with a bat. The team has yet to announce if Mateo will go on the IL or not.
