An undercover investigation by PETA claimed to expose animal abuse inside a Butterball turkey plant, alleging that workers sexually assaulted the animals before they were slaughtered.
In a video on Instagram, an investigator who remains anonymous details incidents where workers allegedly humped shackled turkeys and inserted fingers into their cloacas while the production line was halted.
The social media footage allegedly shows the inside of an unspecified plant, where one worker was seen sitting on a turkey while another appears to kick the bird while yelling expletives.
It is not the first time Butterball has faced accusations of animal abuse from PETA.
In 2017, investigators accused workers at a slaughterhouse in Ozark, Arkansas, of abusing turkeys by kicking and throwing the birds.
“If even one person sees this video and stops eating birds, it’ll be worth it,” the investigator stated at the end of the recent video.
The animal rights group also protested President Joe Biden pardoning two turkeys on Monday by displaying “Hell on Wheels” — a life-size, hyperrealistic turkey transport truck covered with images of birds crammed into crates on their way to slaughter.
“This ‘pardoning’ sham is nothing more than a presidential endorsement of the cruel, destructive turkey industry,” PETA wrote on social media.
