The Orioles look to keep their foot on the gas after clinching a playoff berth last night against the Yankees.
The Orioles magic number for the top Wild Card spot sits at two. Baltimore can extend their quest for an AL East crown by at least one more game by picking up another win over the Yankees.
Baltimore clinched a postseason berth with a victory last night. The team celebrated the milestone while acknowledging the hardships over the second half. We’ll see tonight if there is any type of hangover from the postseason celebration.
Gunnar Henderson and Jordan Westburg will lead things off and form the double-play combination. Anthony Santander, Colton Cwser and Cedric Mullins will take the outfield, while Ramón Urías and Ryan Mountcastle handle the corners. Ryan O’Hearn will slot in as the DH, and James McCann will catch starter Zach Eflin.
The O’s will face Marcus Stroman tonight in New York. The Yankees placed Nestor Cortes on the 15-day IL with a left elbow flexor strain.
The Orioles announced earlier today that Grayson Rodriguez will not pitch again this season.
Baltimore could easily face the Yankees at some point in the postseason. The Birds will look to set the tone with another win at their place tonight.
