The Wizards also took two more freshmen in Boogie Fland and Isaiah Evans
In a recent NBA Draft Twitter community mock draft, I drafted on behalf of the Wizards who held the 1st, 27th, 43rd, and 45th picks in this exercise. Each team was represented by someone who covers that specific team and the draft so they were familiar with team needs and the pool of likely candidates.
February community NBA mock draft!
This one took a little bit so the draft order is from February 8th! Thanks again to everyone who was a part of this!

Obviously, you can’t read too much into an exercise like this but it is a good way to familiarize yourself with some of names you’ll likely hear on draft night. Here are the players I selected with each pick.
1) Cooper Flagg, 6-9, freshman, Duke
Stats: 19.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.6 steals, 1.2 blocks, 36.6% 3PT
Analysis: The best player on a top-3 team in college basketball who should still be a high school senior and can pass, dribble, shoot, and defend at a high level. Yes, please.

27) Egor Demin, 6-8, freshman, BYU
Stats: 11 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.2 steals, 28% 3PT
Analysis: A true point guard with his positional size isn’t easy to find. Demin has made several of the most impressive passes of the entire college basketball season. He’ll need the shoot the ball effectively like he did prior to a midseason injury to unluck his other gifts. That’d be a chance I’d be willing to take if he somehow fell this far in the draft.

43) Boogie Fland, 6-2, freshman, Indiana
Stats: 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.5 steals, 36.5% 3PT
Analysis: He had season-ending thumb surgery after 18 games but prior to that was extremely productive in maybe the best basketball conference of all-time, this year’s SEC. He doesn’t fit this front office’s physical profile given his lack of positional size but he’s just too talented to pass up on in the second round. Everyone needs bucket-getters off the bench and the Wizards need a few more players capable of breaking down a defense.

45) Isaiah Evans, 6-6, freshman, Duke
Stats: 6.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, .4 assists, 45.1% 3PT in only 13.1 minutes per game
Analysis: Evans will likely return to school but I would expect him to vault up draft boards next year when he’s freed up to get more involved. His opportunities to shine this season have been limited but the flashes have been impressive. He has the ability to get red hot and demonstrates three-level scoring ability. When I saw Evans play in person, I couldn’t take my eyes off how dynamic he was as he hit three tough three-pointers in fifteen minutes. I’m still surprised Duke doesn’t try to find more minutes for him.

As you can see, I largely opted for younger, higher upside players with each of my picks. Also worth noting trades were not allowed or I would have tried to move up. Let me know in the comments if you like the picks or who you would have taken instead.
