Three former Washington players will be suiting up for the two Finals teams.
The WNBA Finals tip off tonight, with the New York Liberty hosting the Minnesota Lynx at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Here’s every former Mystic who will be suiting up.
New York Liberty
Kennedy Burke and Kayla Thornton are the only two former Mystics on the New York Liberty roster. Burke played 16 games for the Mystics in 2022 as a borderline-rotational reserve. Thornton played 10 games for Washington in 2015 after not being selected in the 2014 draft. She played a limited role during her time in Washington before finding a more permanent home with the Dallas Wings in 2017.
Curiously, both players sat out of the WNBA season following the conclusion of their respective Mystics tenures. The pair are solid bench contributors for the Liberty and are both searching for their first rings.
Minnesota Lynx
The only former Mystic on the Minnesota Lynx roster is former fan-favorite Myisha Hines-Allen. Hines-Allen was the centerpiece of a rare in-season WNBA trade this season when she was flipped from Washington to Minnesota for two players and a 2026 second-round pick. Hines-Allen is an excellent energy big off the bench who will certainly have a large role in relieving the burden Napheesa Collier has to bear in the Lynx offense.
