He also offers his perspective on Alex Sarr’s Summer League struggles.
On yesterday’s Bleav in Wizards podcast, Jahadi White and I discussed the Wizards free agency moves to date. White and I were both underwhelmed by the fact the Wizards lost Tyus Jones and got nothing in return.
White and I covered the addition of Jonas Valanciunas and the re-signing of Anthony Gill. However, our favorite move so far was the signing of Saddiq Bey. Using roster spots on guys still young enough to improve and develop beyond their current valuation seems prudent to both of us.
Those moves mean the Wizards currently have 17 players on the roster, two more than the NBA limit. White and I gave our thoughts on which two players are most likely to be released and why.
We also assessed the Summer League performances of Carlton “Bub” Carrington, Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Tristan Vukcevic, and head coach Cody Toppert. As a former center who has participated in Summer League, White was able to add some unique insight in what it was like for a young big man trying to acclimate in that environment.
According to DraftKings, the Wizards’ Over/Under line for the upcoming season is 22.5 wins so we each made our predictions on how they’ll finish relative to that. We closed out the show with a plan to fix Team USA’s 3X3 team, which flamed out early this year, for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
