What to watch for
- The Mystics are hoping to secure their first win streak since late June. Brittney Sykes led the team to a win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday. Sykes put up a season-high 28 points in a battle of the league’s worst teams by record. Shakira Austin (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Ariel Atkins (15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) also had strong performances in a look at what this trio could be when healthy.
- Washington also hopes to avoid a season sweep against Seattle. The Storm smacked the Mystics by 32 early in the year, but the other two meetings were close affairs. On Tuesday, the Mystics were within three points before the Storm took over. Atkins and Austin put up 25 and 24 points, respectively, but it wasn’t enough against the league’s 4th-best team. Four Seattle starters (Loyd, Diggins-Smith, Ogwumike, and Magbegor) finished with 13 points or more.
