The guard made two appearances for the Mystics in the 2024 WNBA season.
On Tuesday, the Washington Mystics announced that they have released Jakia Brown-Tuener. She made two appearances in the 2024 WNBA regular season. Brown was initially signed to a hardship contract on June 28 but released a few days later. She was then re-signed to two consecutive seven-day contracts.

The news is not surprising, because the team is getting back to full strength. According to Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post, Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin will play tomorrow when Washington plays the Minnesota Lynx. In addition, Karlie Samuelson should be ready to play. Given that Brown-Turner is a guard, like Sykes and Samuelson, there just wouldn’t be room for her when the latter two return from injury.
BrittNEy Sykes. My bad. https://t.co/epsiNeGQNk
