There was at least one fan who had a miserable time at Thursday night’s game between the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. And no, we’re not saying that because the home team lost by 20 points.
During the Celtics-Wizards game at Capital One Arena, a referee accidentally collided with a stadium worker who was bringing a tray of drinks to the fans sitting courtside. As you’d expect, the sideline got absolutely covered in beer.
Thursday night’s game had to be delayed due to this incident. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the action to resume.
For the most part, NBA fans were sad that so much beer went to waste during Washington’s home opener.
“Poured a little too much out for the homies,” one person said.
“It’s OK to cry over spilt beer,” another person wrote on X.
“Need new rules. Only serve during timeouts and Qtr and Halftime breaks. And before the game. No need for in-game delivery,” a third person tweeted.
As for the actual game, the Celtics won 122-102. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led the charge for the defending champions, combining for 52 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists.
Derrick White, Payton Pritchard and Neemias Queta also reached double figures in the scoring department on Thursday night.
The Celtics are 2-0 heading into this Saturday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. So far, they’ve looked so efficient on offense, knocking down 43.4 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc.
The Wizards, on the other hand, will try to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday night when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
