Game Info
When: Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 12 p.m. ET
Where: Accor Arena, Paris
TV: E! You can also stream on Peacock.
What to watch for
Yeah, you would think the host team, which has San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, would get on national American TV to face off against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Canucks, right?
Non, I guess. EVEN WHEN EVERY OTHER MEN’S BASKETBALL QUARTERFINAL IS ON NBCUNIVERSAL NETWORKS!
Update at 6:25 pm: NBC Olympics has updated the TV schedule. The game is on E!
Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly is only averaging 2 points a game in the tournament, and he’s generally been more of a defensive specialist off the bench than as a volume scorer like Wembanyama, Nicolas Batum or Rudy Gobert. Hopefully we will get to see him on the court more to match up against Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett, both of whom averaged 21.7 points each in the group stage.
Les Bleus last faced off against Team Canada in Orléans on July 19, where they lost 85-73. In that loss, Coulibaly scored just 5 points, though Batum didn’t play. This time, France will be at full strength and they’ll always have the home crowd on their side. Can they pull off the upset against the bronze medalists in last year’s FIBA World Cup? As a Wizards fan, I certainly hope the answer to that is HELL OUAIS !
