What’s at stake
Both France and Germany’s men’s basketball teams (their women’s teams are also in the Olympics) have won both of their games against Brazil and Japan, so they have both qualified to the quarterfinals. However, this game holds a lot at stake, since the winner will finish with the #1 seed in the group, which could mean a lot for the path to a medal.
Les Bleus barely beat Japan, needing extra time, and a miracle. You can read about it here. Die Mannschaft blew out the Japanese, so, at least on paper, Germany looks like the favorite. But, then, of course, there is the small detail that… France is playing at home…
So this one promises to be very interesting, perhaps the most interesting game in the group stage!
P.S. — Oh right, we’re writing these previews since Wizards’ own Bilal Coulibaly is on the French NT… Well, he was sort of a non-factor in the previous game. He played 13 minutes, scored a basket, had 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in 13 minutes.
