What to watch for
- How do you stop Donovan Mitchell? Maybe a question easier said than answered. Donovan Mitchell is one of the most dynamic scorers in the league right now and stopping him will not be easy. Mitchell scored 21 points in the season opener, but he is always capable of going off for a crooked number on the scoreboard. How the Wizards game plan him, will determine how good their chances are in this one.
- Will Jordan Poole get help on the offensive end? Beside Jonas Valančiūnas, who came off the bench, the Wizards didn’t muster much offensively in the season opener outside of Jordan Poole’s 26-point performance. The team shot 43 percent from the field, but shot 19 percent from behind the arc. Players like Kyle Kuzma, Corey Kispert and Bilal Coulibaly are going to be counted on to put some points on the board. How will they step up?
- Can Alex Sarr make some progress? Sarr had an uneven debut. With him being a long-term project type of player, progress is important more than the end result. Can he maybe make some progress? Shooting 0 for 5 from behind the arc is probably not ideal for a 7 footer with the athleticism. Maybe the team will focus on getting him easier touches to get him going. Should be interesting to see how the team plans on helping Sarr progress during this season.
