Game Notes and More
- Friday’s matchup is an NBA In-Season Tournament game, and an important one at that — the Wizards and Hawks are in the same group. Washington has yet to play its first game, while Atlanta leads the group after an upset win over the Boston Celtics.
- We’re officially on “Jordan Poole get-back alert.” Poole is averaging an efficient 22.2 points per game and put up a near-career-high of 42 points last night against the San Antonio Spurs.
- Nikola Jokić leads the NBA in touches per game, but an Atlanta Hawk is third. Can you guess who it is? I’ll give you a second…….. It’s Jalen Johnson, of course! (Trae Young is close behind in third).
- The Wizards have lost six straight since winning back-to-back games against the Hawks early this season. Those two wins versus Atlanta are still the Wizards’ only two wins this season.
- At 2-8, the Wizards are third-to-last in the Eastern Conference behind the most disappointing team in the NBA so far (the 2-9 Philadelphia 76ers) and the team most aggressively seeking to “Capture the Flagg” (the 2-10 Toronto Raptors). The Hawks hold the 7 seed in the dreadful East with a 5-7 record.
