With the clinching the #1 seed on the line for this game, the New York Liberty wasted no time in this one opening up a 29-18 after the first frame of this one, going up by as much as 14 points.
In the first half, Liberty took control with stifling defense. The Mystics 10 first half turnovers turned into 13 points off of turnovers for the Liberty. For the game the Liberty finished with a huge 25-7 points off of turnovers advantage while holding the Mystics to just 37.7 percent shooting.
Liberty never really let up, even growing their lead to as much as 22 points.
For the Mystics, Ariel Atkins was the lone Mystic who seemed to get things going offensively, scoring 22 points on the night. Brittney Sykes suffered an ankle injury during the game and was ruled out early in the 4th quarter.
With the Mystics dropping this game they have dropped out of the 8th and final playoff spot for the playoffs. They will finish the season on Thursday at home against the Indiana Fever, with still a chance, although a small one, to make the playoffs.
