Ariel Atkins led with 15 points for Washington while Marina Mabrey led with 21 points off the bench for the Sun.
The Washington Mystics’ win streak is over after a 96-85 loss to the Connecticut Sun on Saturday afternoon. the loss drops Washington to 9-23 for the 2024 WNBA regular season.
The first half was competitive between the two sides, with the Mystics never falling behind by more than 7 points. In the end, Washington was behind 45-42 and after a second quarter when the Mystics shot 75 percent from the field. Unfortunately for the Sun, Alyssa Thomas suffered a right lower leg injury after colliding with Karlie Samuelson. While Samuelson was able to return, Thomas did not for the rest of the game, though she was cleared to return later per the Sun’s PR staff

Connecticut broke the game open in the third quarter when they shot 64.3 percent from the field and Marina Mabrey scored 14 of her team-leading 21 points, including a 9-0 run off of just three pointers.
