Washington kept things relatively close in the first half. But a poor third quarter made all the difference with this loss.
After a 2-2 start in the 2024-25 NBA season, the Washington Wizards followed it up with a 118-98 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday night in Mexico City.
Washington kept things interesting in the first half, losing 56-48. They were still down by double digits for most of that half. Still, the Wizards held the Heat to 37.3 percent shooting and got on a nice run before halftime.
In the third quarter, the Heat’s talent advantage finally came through. Miami shot 54.5 percent, and the Wizards could only shoot 38.1 percent themselves. Ultimately, Washington was down 89-70 at that point. The fourth quarter was garbage time.
Bilal Coulibaly continued his strong season, scoring 22 points. He also had this nice alley oop dunk from an Alex Sarr pass which you can see here. Yes, it happened in the fourth quarter, but it was a nice play nevertheless.
