Wizards drop their 2nd straight on this 6-game road trip.
The Washington Wizards lost to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, 123-100.
This game started off as though the Wizards would hang around as they got off to an early 6-point margin. That lead would not last long as the Wizards started going cold from the field. For the 1st half, the team shot only 33 percent from the field.
The team struggled to get consistent scoring outside of Jonas Valanciunas, who finished with a team-high 23 points on 9-11 shooting. Everyone else, combined, shot 29 percent from the field.
The Wizards were down by 14 at the half, but simply could not pull together a large enough run to get back in it. They were able to get as close as 10 points, but the Kings answered with multiple big runs before breaking it open for good in the middle of the 4th quarter.
Kings were able to get big contributions from Domantas Sabonis with 29 points and Keon Ellis, who shot 6 for 8 from 3, including making 5 in the 2nd half. This is all, in spite, a quiet night from their star guard, De’Aaron Fox, who struggled getting it going. He finished with just 12 points on 4 for 12 shooting.
Wizards have now dropped 10 in a row. They will be back in action Tuesday night to face the Los Angeles Lakers in Los Angeles.
