It is unclear exactly when a general manager and head coach would be hired.
The Washington Mystics have begun virtual interviews for possible candidates for their vacant general manager and head coach positions according to Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post. The X post was made earlier this week.
Couple random WNBA notes:
Teams turned in their list of six protected players from the expansion draft (Dec. 6) yesterday. (Lists not being made public.)
The Mystics have started conducting virtual interviews for their openings. Team is working with the Nolan Partners search…— Kareem Copeland (@kareemcopeland) November 26, 2024
I know I wrote a piece musing about whether Monumental Basketball president Michael Winger should be the Team’s GM instead. after all, he is effectively in that role right now. And throughout this process, it is possible that the Mystics may not be impressed with the candidates in front of them for their GM position in particular. So the gist of that piece hasn’t changed.
But I am still encouraged by Copeland’s report that the Mystics are starting to get things moving. While it is important to be deliberate in a job search, I still don’t think that this process has to start so late.
Here’s hoping that the Mystics will get great candidates in these roles. let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
