The Washington Wizards have hired former NBA point guard Ish Smith as a pro scout, team officials said. Smith, who had two stints with the Wizards, played for an NBA-record 13 different teams.

Smith played 14 years in the NBA for 13 teams, the most out of any player in history. Along the way, he had two stints with the Wizards, first from 2019-21 where he was part of Washington’s last team to make the NBA Playoffs in 2021. He had a second stint with the Wizards in the 2021-22 season after initially signing with the Charlotte Hornets.
Over the course of Smith’s career, he played 805 total games, 140 of them with the Wizards, second only to the Detroit Pistons, where played 219 games. Smith averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 assists per game with Washington. Before finishing his career, Smith played for the Denver Nuggets in the 2022-23 season, winning the NBA championship that year.
