This is not a surprise, considering that they aren’t regulars in Washington’s rotation.
We discussed Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly getting his third-year team option yesterday. Today, we will discuss guard Johnny Davis and forward Patrick Baldwin, Jr. not getting their fourth-year options. Josh Robbins of The Athletic initially reported the news yesterday.
As expected, the Wizards have exercised their third-year team option on Bilal Coulibaly for the 2025-26 season. The team does not plan to exercise its fourth-year team options on Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Johnny Davis for 2025-26, @TheAthleticNBA has learned. Story:…

Both Davis and Baldwin have only played two of the Wizards’ three games and are averaging well under 10 minutes a game each. Given that the Wizards are planning on building through the draft and with younger talent longer term, it’s clear that neither are in Washington’s long term plans. Both Davis and Baldwin are recent first round picks but have struggled to find regular minutes on the Wizards’ rotation.
Now that Davis and Baldwin aren’t getting their fourth-year options, they will be unrestricted free agents next summer. If their fourth-year options were exercised, they would enter restricted free agency instead in 2026.
