The Wizards will play many of their first games at home, but they will also have a long road trip in March.
The Washington Wizards released their 2024-25 NBA season schedule last week and Greg Finberg also listed the team’s key home games here. Here are the main parts about the schedule, which the Wizards wrote about when the schedule was released.
A home-heavy start for once! The Wizards aren’t just starting the 2024-25 season at home. They will also play four of their first six games at home. Washington has often had road-heavy stretches to begin the season in recent years, so this is a nice change of pace.
Washington will have an international game outside of Canada — The Wizards will play the Miami Heat on Nov. 2 in Mexico City. Washington hasn’t played an international game outside of Canada (because of the Toronto Raptors) since 2019 when they played the New York Knicks in London, United Kingdom.
The longest home stands are five games each — Washington will have two five-game homestands. Both are in the latter part of the season, with the first from Feb. 7-21 and the second from Mar. 27-Apr. 3.
The longest road trip is seven games! Washington has a seven game road trip from Mar. 8-18. There isn’t much planned at Capital One Arena during that timeframe besides Capitals hockey games on Mar. 9 and 18, so perhaps there is a major festival then.
The Wizards still won’t have many nationally televised games — The home game against the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 16 is the only one on national TV. You can see that game on TNT.
