The Washington Mystics’ next playoff appearance will feature a home game, no matter what seed they are in.
The Washington Mystics have made three playoff appearances since their 2019 WNBA championship. However, they never hosted a playoff game due to their seed. But that will change next year when a new playoff format happens.
Last week, the WNBA announced postseason format changes starting in 2025. Because teams will now fly charter for the season, the eight teams in the first round will play an 1-1-1 format, guaranteeing a home game for the lower seed in a best of three series. The semifinals will remain a best of five and a 2-2-1 format.
For the 2025 WNBA Finals, the series will now be a best of seven series with a 2-2-1-1-1 format.
I don’t see the Mystics making the Finals next year, but a playoff appearance shouldn’t be out of the question. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
