The deal is reportedly for four-years, $54 million.
The Washington Wizards announced today that they have finalized a contract extension with fourth-year wing Corey Kispert. Through three seasons in Washington, Kispert has averaged 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and has hit 38.8% of his three-point attempts. Last season, the best of his career, saw him average 13.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2 assists on 38.3% three-point shooting.
“Corey is someone who positively impacts our environment daily. He consistently shows up for the organization as both a player and a teammate, embodying the passion and professionalism we value,” stated Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins in the team’s press release. “We are excited that he has the opportunity to continue his growth and development in Washington. He’s a relentless worker who has added to his game each season. We look forward to his further evolution in the coming years.”
Per the Wizards public relations department, Kispert is second among three-year players in career three-pointers with 459. He trails only Jalen Green who has 545 and Kispert’s 38.8% three-point shooting percentage puts him at fourth place among the same group (min. 100 3PM). He is also the first player in franchise history to top 100 made threes in each of his first three seasons in the NBA.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the deal is worth $54 million over four-years. The Athletic’s Josh Robbins added that the fourth year is a team option. This is the latest in a series of team-friendly deals the Wizards new front office has negotiated. Both Kyle Kuzma and Deni Advija’s deals were viewed league wide as being extremely favorable for the team’s long-term ability to trade any of these players should the desire arise.

Kispert had a good showing in the preseason and given the Wizards available opportunity for production, it’s possible Kispert could be in for a much better year from a production standpoint. Avdija’s deal looked like an underpay almost from the minute it was signed and this could very well end up being the case for Kispert.
