What a dramatic weekend for Butler.
On Monday, the Washington Wizards announced that they signed guard Jared Butler to a two-way contract. To make room for him, they placed RayJ Dennis on waivers.

This move is perplexing. It was well known that the Wizards wanted to keep Butler but also wanted to trade Johnny Davis or Patrick Baldwin, Jr. to make room for him. When that didn’t work, the Wizards waived Butler. And somehow, they added Dennis on a two-way contract in that time period, only to waive him just a few days later.
If you’re Butler, you just experienced what the business side of the NBA is like in real time. Hopefully, he makes the most out of his new contract. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
