Dennis played for Boise State, Toledo and Baylor during his college career. He was most recently on the Los Angeles Clippers’ training camp roster.
On Saturday, the Washington Wizards announced that they have signed guard RayJ Dennis to a two-way contract per a team release.
Dennis, a rookie at the professional level, comes to the Wizards from the Los Angeles Clippers where he was on their training camp roster. He played five seasons of college basketball (remember, that’s due to the extra eligibility from the coronavirus pandemic) for Boise State, Toledo and most recently at Baylor. Last season, Dennis averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 assists per game for the Bears. He was also the MAC Player of the Year in 2022-23 while at Toledo.
Given that the Wizards don’t exactly have a point guard (even though Jordan Poole is the primary option for now), it appears that Washington is adding Dennis to see if he grows into at least a backup point guard role for Washington over time.
