Wiz win total hits a dozen!
The Washington Wizards won Wednesday’s battle of the bottom-dwellers, outlasting the Utah Jazz in a 125-122 affair at Capital One Arena.
The Wizards put on a ball movement clinic in the first half of the contest. The home team assisted on 20 of their 22 made field goals over the first two quarters. 12 of those were three-pointers.
Alex Sarr, in particular, was aggressive early on against fellow rookie Kyle Filipowski, who got the start for an injury-depleted Jazz team. Sarr scored eight of his 16 first-half points in the paint. Kyshawn George tallied 10 points, while Khris Middleton had six assists as Washington led 62-55 at the break.
Washington threatened to pull away in the third. The Wiz went on a 9-0 run early in the quarter giving D.C. a 76-60 lead. But the defense let up after that as the Jazz outscored them 31-20 to cut the Wizards’ lead to 96-91 entering the fourth.
The Jazz’s Johnny Juzang poured in 13 fourth-quarter points for his team’s comeback bid. But a couple of clutch shots from Middleton and Sarr sealed the victory down the stretch.
The Wizards finished with 32 assists, with Bub Carrington’s game-high nine dimes leading the way. Both Sarr (21 points) and George (23 points) finished just one point off their respective career highs.

Washington also more than doubled their season average with 12 blocks, led by Bilal Coulibaly’s three swats.
The Wizards next head to Canada to face the Toronto Raptors on Saturday in the first of back-to-back matchups between the two squads.
