Alexander Ovechkin was injured in a game against the Utah Hockey Club. Jack McBain, left wing for Utah, collided with Ovi, and the knee-to-knee contact, broke his left fibula. This collision was deemed incidental, but Tom Wilson did end up dropping the gloves, to defend his teammate. Alex, was scoring goals at a phenomenal rate this season, and had scored 15 goals, and was 27 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for most goals all time. Due to this injury, and Ovi being forced to miss 4-6 weeks, at a minimum, will hinder his chase for most goals all time depending on how well he comes back from this injury. He has one year remaining on his Contract after this season.
