The Washington Capitals face the Chicago Blackhawks in their only visit to Washington this season. This is the first time number one overall pick Connor Bedard has come to Washington. This is also the first time we get a look at the Capitals after the trade deadline.
The Washington Capitals traded Evgeny Kuznetsov and Joel Edmunson away for draft picks. This solidifies the need for younger and hungrier players from Hershey coming up to play in the NHL and try to earn a roster spot for the remainder of the season and heading into next season. Some of these players have been playing the last few weeks like Miro who just got his first NHL goal the other night. The young players have definitely shown an ability to play at the NHL level.
While the defense isn’t something to write home about, since the all star break, they have definitely gotten better between on the blue line. Alex Alexyev has been solid shutting down players and improving his shut down play. The team has also been great on limiting chances and kept Pittsburgh to a solid goose egg the other night. This was their best showing on ice this season.
