The Washington Capitals have announced that Evgeny Kuznetsov is entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. This is for drug and alcohol use as well as mental health problems. Kuznetsov was shown on video the summer after winning the Stanley Cup to be in a room with a white powder substance, that many people thought was cocaine.
The Capitals announced this morning that Kuznetsov was not practicing with the team today due to personal reasons. The team reported this news mid afternoon. One can hope that Kuzy gets the help he needs mentally, as well as help with whatever substances he is using. Kuznetsov can return to practice when he is deemed ready to rejoin the team by the players assistance program.
