INJURY UPDATE
There are no official updates on Jayden Epps (lower body). Epps tried to play in the Hoyas 69-63 win over Xavier last Friday but was scoreless in four minutes off the bench. Obviously Georgetown is at it’s best with an available Epps but the Hoyas are far deeper than last year and have now shown the ability to win without all of their starters.
NOTES
This week the Hoyas received a vote in the AP Top 25 Poll for the first time since the final poll of the 2020-21 season….Georgetown has lost six straight overall in the series, with the last win coming in the 2021 Big East Tournament.
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Georgetown: With a win the Hoyas can start 4-0 in Big East play for the first time since the 2000-01 season when Craig Esherick guided Georgetown to the Sweet 16.
ODDS
Georgetown being an underdog at Marquette is nothing new. The Hoyas have only been favored in Milwaukee twice since the Golden Eagles joined the league in 2006. This will be the seventh consecutive game the Hoyas have been at least a 9 point underdog in Milwaukee. Georgetown did win one of those games, as a 9 point dog back in 2019 when James Akinjo and Mac McClung combined to score 48 points in a thrilling 86-84 victory. At one point in the second half KenPom gave the Hoyas just a 5 percent chance of winning.
