WHAT’S AT STAKE
Georgetown: The Hoyas can get back to .500 in the league with an upset victory over St. John’s tonight. Just two weeks ago in the first meeting at Madison Square Garden, Georgetown had a 15-point lead in the first half before going cold after the break.
With Thomas Sorber and Jayden Epps both back, the Hoyas are far deeper than the Red Storm. Deivon Smith (shoulder) is likely to miss a second straight game as St. John’s is trying for a seventh straight win. Smith also missed the first meeting with the Hoyas. Rick Pitino is relying heavily on his starters and that should remain true tonight. The Hoyas have to limit turnovers in order to even the seasons series.
NOTES
Georgetown has lost 20 straight games vs AP Top 25 teams going back to the 2021 BET. The Hoyas have dropped 15 straight at home against ranked teams, last beating then-No. 25 Creighton on Jan. 15, 2020.
