Kansas State transfer Ismael Massoud is headed to Georgetown for his fifth and final season, he told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot-9 Harlem, N.Y. native also visited George Washington, Fordham and New Mexico.
“Georgetown is a great university to get a degree from in my last year while coach [Ed] Cooley is a proven winner and great coach,” he said.
“The opportunity to come close to home while playing in a system that forwards, especially ones with my skillset, which is ability to make shots and versatility, do really well in [was appealing]. Also I get to play for a coach that values my strengths as well as has shown to do well with transfers throughout his career.”
Massoud, who ran with the PSA Cardinals AAU team in high school, averaged 5.4 points while shooting 42% from deep for a Wildcats team that reached the NCAA Tournament Elite 8. He scored 15 points in the win over Michigan State at Madison Square Garden in the Sweet 16. He’s a career 37% shooter from beyond the arc.
He spent his first two years at Wake Forest before playing two at K-State.
Massoud joins point guard Rowan Brumbaugh (Texas), combo guard Jayden Epps (Illinois) and wing Dontrez Styles (UNC) among Cooley’s portal additions.
