It appears that things are to coming to a head with Patrick Ewing and Georgetown.
The program lost its 27th straight Big East regular-season game Tuesday night to Seton Hall, 66-51, getting outscored 39-24 in the second half. During the waning moments, the student section broke out a “Fire Ewing” chant.

One prominent Hoyas Website said it would cease posting if Ewing, an NBA Hall of Famer and Georgetown legend, is still the coach on Monday when Georgetown visits Villanova at noon. The Hoyas set a Big East record by going 0-19 in Big East play last season. They haven’t won a league game since March of 2021.
If Patrick Ewing is still the head coach of Georgetown basketball on January 16th against Villanova, I will be shutting down the blog and ceasing all activity on this account until he is fired.
Have a great night, all. Talk to you tomorrow.

Ewing, 60, reportedly signed a three-year extension beyond this season after winning the Big East Tournament in 2021 and has a $14.9 million buyout after this season, per one report..
Georgetown AD Lou Reed issued a statement on Ewing’s status last week.
“We recognize this is a challenging and frustrating time for the men’s basketball team and our fans,” he told The Associated Press. “Coach Ewing understands that it is imperative to get the program back on track and no one is more committed than he is to making that happen.”

After last Wednesday’s home loss to Villanova, Ewing was asked about the statement from Reed.
“My future is my future,” Ewing said. “I’m here to be the head coach at Georgetown until the President or the board decides for me to move on.
“But until that time, a friend of mine sent me a quote today, ‘It’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get up.’ So we got knocked down, all we going to do is keep getting up.”
