The Georgetown Men’s Basketball Team Spreads Holiday Cheer
On Friday, December 20th, your Georgetown Hoyas and Hoyas Rising joined forces with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Division to host a festive holiday event at the Woody Ward Community Center. The event brought together families and children from Wards 7 and 8 for an afternoon of holiday cheer.
“You have to reflect on where you come from and the community raised me,” emphasized Ed Cooley, highlighting the importance of giving back. “It raised my brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and cousins – it was a refuge for us. We had a place that was safe, a place to eat, a place to play, a place to grow, a place to read, and ultimately it helped shape us. So, as we got older, we thought it was always important to give back.”
The afternoon was filled with holiday spirit, featuring meet-and-greets with the players and coaches, exciting games, photo opportunities, and festive cookie decorating.
Special thanks to Ebbon Allen for also documenting the Hoyas’ visit to Woody Ward Community Center and sharing some photos with fellow fans on Facebook and Instagram.
