Angel Reese is locked into her brother Julian Reese’s NCAA Tournament run at Maryland.
Julian Reese is a senior forward for the Terrapins, who are heading to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016. Maryland, the No. 4 seed in the West Region, advanced to the second weekend with a 72-71 win over 12th-seeded Colorado State on Sunday night. Freshman center Derrik Queen was the hero with his buzzer-beater, but Reese also turned in a strong performance, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
After the game ended and Maryland secured its spot in the Sweet 16, Angel Reese had an urgent request for her social media followers.
“I need somebody make me a Sweet 16 shirt to wear for my brother game thursday! Thank yaaa,” Reese said on X/Twitter.
Reese later clarified that she was hoping to have the shirt by Monday.
Maryland will face No. 1 seed Florida in the Sweet 16 Thursday night. We’ll find out during the game if Angel was able to get her hands on the customized shirt she was searching for.
Angel Reese began her college career at Maryland before transferring to LSU, where she led the program to its first national championship in 2023.
After a stellar rookie season with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky, Reese was a key contributor to Rose Basketball Club’s championship run in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled women’s 3-on-3 league.
“Thank you @unrivaledbasketball for allowing me to be apart of history.” Reese wrote on Instagram last week. “I created bonds with women that I would have never thought but I really needed that will last a lifetime. I was able to grow, learn, make mistakes, build confidence, cry, laugh, smell my flowers, beat the odds & understand the value of what it’s like to be treated like a pro. This is the standard for what WE DESERVE.
“Even though it was an “inaugural season”, the expectations were through the roof & I’m proud to say I was apart of HISTORY. First Year UNRIVALED CHAMPIONS. BTA!!ROSE ON THESE H****.”
