Jahnathan Lamothe, the 121st ranked player in the Class of 2023 according to 247 Sports, has committed to Maryland, he announced Sunday on Twitter.
The 6-foot-4 guard plays at St. Frances Academy (MD.) and held offers from Illinois and LSU, among others.
Lamothe will look to follow in the footsteps of former Baltimore natives Jalen Smith and Darryl Morsell, who shined at Maryland.
The four-star is the first commit in Maryland’s 2023 class, the first class that new head coach Kevin Willard has full control over after former Terps head-man Mark Turgeon stepped down last December.
