In this season of negativity, let’s pause to appreciate something we take for granted every day. Seeing The Sun.
Plenty of us were fearful that the new ownership of The Baltimore Sun would turn the state’s flagship newspaper into something unrecognizable (“David Smith: The battle for truth in my beloved Baltimore,” Aug. 23). Sure, we’re seeing more content from FOX45 and Sinclair News. In these times of polarization, being exposed to different views can help bring understanding.
And Friday’s front page had a thoughtful summary of the presidential race by Candy Woodall and a respectful interview of Gov. Wes Moore by Armstrong Williams. I enjoy the fresh perspectives these writers bring to the paper — as long as I can still turn the page and read Dan Rodricks.
The Sun is Maryland’s newspaper. At a time when many are fleeing her southern neighbor (“Shame on Washington Post and LA Times,” Oct. 29), she deserves our support. Thank you and have a safe voting experience.
