Keener was a volunteer assistant for the Hoyas in 2022, before receiving a promotion to hitting coach and recruiting coordinator in 2023. He had the same job at Army in 2022, and was a student assistant coach at Michigan before that. Keener also played two collegiate seasons for the Wolverines.
Keener helped lead Georgetown to its first two Big East Tournament apperances in program history during his two seasons there.
It’s unclear what Keener’s specific role at Maryland will be, but Swope’s statement mentioned his work with catchers and “recruiting prowess.”
