Maryland men’s lacrosse associate head coach and defensive coordinator Jesse Bernhardt was awarded the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Outstanding Assistant Coach Honor, it was announced Thursday.
Bernhardt led a dominant defensive unit in 2024 that helped the Terps reach their 10th NCAA Tournament quarterfinals game and eighth National Championship match since 2011. His defense held multiple opponents in the postseason to eight goals or less, with close defenseman Ajax Zappitello being named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Raymond J. Enners Oustanding Player of the Year under his guidance.
A 2013 Maryland graduate, Bernhardt enters his eighth season as a member of the Maryland coaching staff.
