TORONTO — The Orioles changed the start time for their home opener against the Boston Red Sox on Monday from 3:05 p.m. to 2:35 p.m. because the weather forecast projects potential scattered showers and a thunderstorm throughout the afternoon.

Camden Yards’ parking lot and gate times won’t change as a result of the decision. Fans will be allowed to enter the lots at 11 a.m. and gates to the ballpark will open by noon. The pregame festivities, which will include four Maryland basketball stars throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, will begin at 2 p.m. The ceremonies will be broadcast by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
Baltimore has a scheduled day off Tuesday, which would be the target date for a makeup game should weather force the club to postpone it.
The Orioles kicked off their season on the road with a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Left-hander Cade Povich, who made his first career opening day roster this year, is expected to start for Baltimore, while left-hander Sean Newcomb will get the ball for Boston.
