As this Thanksgiving holiday draws near, I’d like to write about a sports moment as well as a couple people I am very grateful are in my life.
July 16th, 2016 was supposed to be one of the best days, I’ve been able to be a part of. My brother was getting married and it was a very fun time. Unfortunately, My father happened to pass away right after the ceremony. Because of this, I know how T.J. Oshie announcing “Coach Osh” passed and how emotional it was. I was very surprised to see him score a hat trick in the first game since the passing, which happened to be a day after. For me to see someone take all the emotions, and filter them through in order to play at a high level was very impressive and actually got me to look at myself and not sit in a puddle of misery and pity. Oshie’s performance was one for the ages, and inspirational.
There are two people in my life, I am very grateful for. My friends, Alexis, and Laurie. Both of them met me when I was going through a rough patch in life, and they showed me love and compassion and helped me get through that rough patch. In the few years, I have known them, they have gone from a friend to someone I consider family. They’ve been there when I have been fired from a job, went through a rough patch of dating, and done nothing but encourage me to better myself and continue to grow. I even found out about my current place of employment through Laurie. As I take time to reflect on my life, and the growth, I have been able to do as a person, I can’t help but wonder where I would be if it was not for them in my life.
