A tree fell on a moving car in Howard County and killed the driver late Sunday afternoon.
A woman was driving west on Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City when a tree fell around 5:35 p.m., Howard County Police said. She was declared dead at the scene, police said.
Another woman was injured when her car struck the fallen tree, police said. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Westbound Baltimore National Pike, also known as U.S. Route 40, remains closed near the Baltimore County line Sunday night, police said.
