President Donald Trump said Friday that he doesn’t want the new FBI headquarters to be built in Maryland but rather in the nation’s capital.
Trump said he prefers Washington for the headquarters promised to 61 acres in Greenbelt in 2023.
“They were going to build it … in Maryland, a liberal state, but that has no bearing on what I’m about to say. But we’re going to stop it,” Trump said.
“The FBI and the DOJ have to be near each other,” he said, supporting a plan for the Washington location.
FBI Director Kash Patel advised Trump his agency could use a former Department of Commerce building, Trump said.
