A Westminster man was sentenced Monday to 90 years of incarceration after a Carroll County jury found him guilty of sexual and physical abuse charges involving three girls in his household.
Carroll County Circuit Judge Brian DeLeonardo handed down the sentence following a five-day trial this summer in which Mohammed Ali Hossain, 59, was found guilty on eight counts, including sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree rape and three counts of first-degree child abuse.
“Nothing can erase the horrendous trauma these girls had to endure for so many years of their childhood,” Carroll County State’s Attorney Haven Shoemaker said in a statement, adding that his office hoped the sentence “can provide them with a sense of justice as they move forward.” Hossain’s attorney, Charles Waechter, did not immediately return a request for comment.
The charges stemmed from a 2023 investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Child Protective Services, which found that Hossain had repeatedly sexually abused one girl in his household and physically abused three children during a six-year period, the state’s attorney’s office said.
Jurors found him guilty on all eight counts this June. In addition to his jail sentence, Hossain will be on probation after his release and will have to register as a sex offender, prosecutors said.
